Leicester City and Rangers have both been interested in signing Metinho, according to claims today.
Premier League Brasil reveals that the 21-year-old, who belongs to Troyes, was recently the subject of a little dispute between the Ibrox and King Power Stadium sides.
The outlet claims that Philippe Clement’s Rangers, as well as Basel, wanted the player on loan, while Leicester City tried to buy him.
Metinho, however, is now set to stay at Sparta Rotterdam. He’s been on loan there since last summer, and has had his spell renewed.
The midfielder was bought by Troyes back in 2021, when the City Group made a double deal with Fluminense to buy Kayky.
Neither of the players ended up being used by Manchester City and it seems they’re still waiting for Metinho to develop until he’s involved in a permanent deal.
The midfielder got some decent playing time in the Eredivisie last season, especially with him becoming a regular starter at his club in March.
We’re now just curious about how Leicester City and Rangers couldn’t offer attractive conditions to manage to beat Sparta Rotterdam in this battle.
