As we all wait on fresh news regarding Rangers’ chase for Philippe Clement, the Belgian media today shares what they know about this pursuit.
On Wait&See show, journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims the coach is still waiting to take a decision on his future, although Ibrox looks likeliest.
It’s first claimed that before Rangers, Al-Shabbab had already been after Clement. Their interest was first reported in June, and now they offered him a three-year contract.
The problem for the Saudi club is that the coach has some ‘reservations’ regarding that type of move, as he prioritises a return to Europe.
Rangers then get a mention, as the Ibrox side have a ‘very clear interest’ in Clement and placed him ‘on top of their list’ of candidates.
Tavolieri doesn’t bring any details on the Rangers offer, just claiming that the discussions are still ongoing. It’s still unclear whether Clement would accept that job, despite the small advantage of giving him the chance of working in Europe again.
With the Belgian media also seeming to be in the dark, it seems the coach is indeed keeping his toughts to himself for now.
