Rangers have set their eyes on Relebohile Mofokeng, but Barcelona interest could make it challenging for Philippe Clement’s side to sign him.
That’s according to South Africa’s Soccer Laduma, and they provide the latest on Rangers and Barcelona.
The winger is currently at South African side Orlando Pirates and has managed four goals and seven assists from 17 games this season. His performances and ‘meteoric rise’ at the club have seen Rangers, the La Liga side and others show interest.
With regards to Philippe Clement’s side, the report states they are following the 20-year-old.
The Catalan club are looking to sign him for Barcelona B, which is their reserve team, and the report states the Blaugrana have already made contact for the youngster. It’s further claimed Barca B coaches have monitored the South Africa international.
This could make it difficult for Rangers to get ahead of Barcelona B in the transfer race.
Mofokeng previously had a trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Rangers could bring him to the UK if they manage to beat competition from the Spanish giants’ reserve team.
There’s no mention of the player’s preference between Rangers and Barcelona B, and Orlando Pirates’ demand to sell him.
