Rangers supporters have received another update on former full-back Jefté, with Brazilian coverage now framing his first season at Palmeiras as a solid and encouraging adjustment since Ibrox.

The assessment comes from local analysis of Palmeiras’ squad composition in 2025, which reviewed how the defender has fitted into the team after his move from Rangers.

From Ibrox standout to Palmeiras solution

Palmeiras went through a broad squad overhaul in 2025. At left-back, the club struggled to find a reliable deputy for Uruguayan international Joaquín Piquerez. As a result, the club looked outside Brazil for a solution.

At Palmeiras, Jefté did not arrive from Rangers to displace Piquerez. Instead, the club signed him to provide balance and reliability when the Uruguayan was unavailable. The Brazilian side also valued the fact that Jefté does not occupy a foreign player slot, an important factor in squad planning.

So far, since his arrival from Ibrox, the defender has made 13 appearances. His role has been clear from the start. He operates as a rotation option, but one trusted by manager Abel Ferreira to deliver structure and intensity when required.

Offensive impact and long-term view

Brazilian analysis highlights that Jefté has surprised with his attacking output. Even in limited minutes, he has shown confidence going forward. In Palmeiras’ final match of the 2025 season, he provided a well-worked assist, underlining that offensive side of his game.

With a contract running until mid-2030, Palmeiras view Jefté as a signing with an eye on the future. For now, he remains behind Piquerez in the hierarchy. Still, his first year in Brazil has brought stability, acceptance, and clear purpose.

For Rangers fans, it is another sign that a former Ibrox regular continues to progress, even after trading a starring role in Scotland for a more measured path in Brazil.
