Rangers F.C. are ‘following in the footsteps’ of Racing Santander youngster Pablo Torre but face increased competition from Real Sociedad for his signature.

That’s according to La Razon, who say Real Madrid are also ‘after him’ but may have to move quickly to beat La Real to his signature.

Last week we covered a report from Noticias de Gipuzkoa that stated Rangers had ‘knocked on the door’ for Torre and were keen to bring the player, who was described as one of the jewels of Racing Santander’s youth set up, to Ibrox to play under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

It was explained that could be done for as little as €2.5m thanks to the Spanish side’s desperate need for money.

That was a figure Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side could more than afford, but they weren’t the only side keen on Torre.

Real Sociedad were also pushing for him, and La Razon now state that they ‘have the edge’ over the likes of Rangers, Real Madrid and Valencia.

That’s because their reserve teams is in the second division in Spain, while their ‘portfolio policy’ is also seen as an attractive option for the player.

Rangers are also ‘after him’ and following his development closely, but it is La Real who are seemingly leading the race at this moment in time as they eye up Torre and fellow youngster Enrique Clemente to bolster their youth ranks.
