According to a claim in the Turkish media, Rangers defender Rıdvan Yılmaz looks near certain to finally return to his former club Besiktas.

The left back appears to be surplus to requirements under Russell Martin following the recent signing of Max Aarons from Bournemouth. He wasn’t involved in the match day squad for last weekend’s trip to Motherwell, with Aarons starting at left back.

Sabah today report on the latest developments regarding Besiktas’ pursuit for the Rangers player and state they’ve reached an agreement with him to return to Istanbul.

It’s reported the Black Eagles are looking for a replacement for David Jurásek, who has failed to impress since his arrival last month and they’ve shaken hands with Rangers to re-sign Yılmaz.

The process over his proposed move back to Super Lig will continue, and it’s hoped a deal can be finalised soon. Sabah haven’t reported on the transfer fee, but previous reports in the Turkish press said Rangers were looking for €5m.

Yılmaz played 26 times in all competitions last season and is contracted to Rangers until May 2027.
