Hansa Rostock may be regretting the transfer drama they created over Ryan Naderi, as his departure to Danny Röhl’s Rangers has hit them hard.

That’s at least if the latest from BILD is anything to go by. They cover the Division 3 side today and how the ‘promotion alarm bells’ are now ringing. The newspaper explains that Hansa have now gone four games without a win. That’s two draws and two losses. Their target of promotion is now faltering.

They’re yet to win a game since Naderi joined Rangers in a €6m deal in the January transfer window. While their strikers have been delivering, it’s not been enough. Last weekend saw them losing 1-0 despite dominating possession and creating chances.

‘Painful pattern’ since Rangers transfer

There’s been a ‘painful pattern’ emerging too. Rostock simply don’t win ‘top matches’. 33 of their 40 points so far have come against teams below seventh place. Now players are sounding the alarm, including midfield engine Marco Schuster.

“It’s always the same: when the competition gives us a bit of an opening, we often fail to deliver the final blow,” he said.

“If we want to achieve our big goals, we definitely need to step it up a notch. We simply need to have more hunger, especially in the penalty area.”

Naderi could have aided that particular problem. Instead, he’s in Scotland enjoying life at his new club. And Hansa have nobody but themselves to blame.

Sport Witness covered his protracted move to Rangers and the drama around it at the end of the transfer. Most of that was caused by Hansa and their sporting director.

Rangers tried to help

For instance, Rangers initially offered to let Naderi stay at the German club until the end of the season.

They were more than happy to delay his arrival at Ibrox, let him help his side get promoted and then move in the summer. Naderi even agreed to such a deal as well.

The Germans played hardball, though, and eventually sold to Rangers late in the window on a permanent basis.

Now, as a result, they find themselves six points behind an automatic promotion spot without a win since the 22-year-old left.
