Rangers have moved early in the race for Ryan Naderi, and the first offer from Danny Röhl’s side has already put third-division side Hansa Rostock in a tricky spot.
German newspaper BILD confirmed Rangers have tabled a £2.6m bid (€3m) for the 22-year-old striker. The offer is a statement the Ibrox club are willing to spend serious money on a player from Germany’s third tier if the profile and output match their needs.
But Naderi’s season helps explain the Rangers timing. He has eight goals and five assists in just 17 league games, numbers that stand out even beyond the 3. Liga. He added more fuel in the weekend, setting up three goals in a 4-0 win over Mannheim. That display only strengthened the feeling that he is ready for the next step.
The presence of Danny Röhl also matters here. A German coach at Ibrox could ease both sporting and cultural adaptation, which is understood to be a positive factor from the player’s side. So Rangers are seen as offering not just a financial step up, but also a clearer pathway into a higher-profile environment.
At Hansa Rostock, the debate is ongoing. Naderi is under contract until 2028 and remains central to their promotion push. Still, keeping him long-term looks unrealistic.
Sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh must now decide whether to accept a record-breaking Rangers fee, possibly with bonuses, or hold firm and risk frustration growing.
For Rangers, the door is open. What happens next is down to how long Hansa want to resist.
