Siniša Mihajlović is in contention to become the Rangers manager, if latest reports from coming out of Scotland and Italy are to be believed.
After losing all six Champions League group stage ties and going into the World Cup break trailing Celtic by nine points, Rangers parted ways with Giovanni van Bronckhorst earlier this week.
According to SampNews24.com, the Ibrox side would be ‘thinking of entrusting’ their managerial job to the 53-year-old. To do that, Rangers have started talks with the Serbian and these ‘contacts are intensifying’.
Apart from Mihajlović, QPR manager Michael Beale and Maccabi Haifa coach Barak Bakhar are also in the running to become Van Bronckhorst’s successor. The report states Rangers’ final decision will be ‘known shortly’.
Mihajlović was shown the exit door at Bologna in September. Although he is now without a club, Il Resto del Carlino reported on Tuesday that the Serbian is still on the Serie A side’s payroll until the end of this season.
If he wants to join Rangers, then the former Sampdoria coach will have to terminate his contract with Bologna.
