Rangers are now on the verge of finalising Danilo Pereira’s exit. Botafogo have finally reached a verbal agreement with the Ibrox club for the Brazilian striker’s loan move.
Reports earlier this week suggested talks had accelerated after Rangers boss Derek McInnes approved the player’s departure. The latest update from Brazil indicates the clubs have now agreed the deal in principle. This leaves only the paperwork before it can be officially completed.
UOL reports Botafogo have settled the contractual terms with the Rangers man. They are now working through the remaining administrative steps needed to announce the signing.
Journalist Valentin Furlan reported that Rangers and Botafogo struck a verbal agreement on Wednesday for a loan running until June 2027.
Rangers exit almost complete
Danilo Pereira will join the Brazilian club on loan with an option to buy. However, Brazilian reports now state that clause will become active through performance-related targets rather than being a straightforward fixed option.
The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at NEC Nijmegen after slipping down the pecking order at Rangers.
During his spell in the Netherlands he managed one goal and one assist in 12 appearances. Furthermore, he ended the 2025-26 campaign with five goals in 40 matches across Rangers and NEC.
That made another move increasingly likely this summer, with Rangers prepared to allow the striker to continue his career elsewhere.
Announcement now expected
Danilo Pereira is expected to provide competition for Arthur Cabral rather than arrive as Botafogo’s first-choice striker.
According to both UOL and Fogão Net, only the legal formalities, document exchange and signatures remain before the transfer can be completed.
Unless there is an unexpected late hitch, Rangers now appear only days away from confirming Danilo’s departure, bringing an end to another chapter that never fully lived up to expectations following his move from Feyenoord.
