Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers travelled to France this week for a Europa League match with Lyon which didn’t mean a great deal to either side.
A 1-1 draw was a respectable result for both, and both Rangers and Lyon were safely through to the next round of the competition before a ball was kicked.
Even if Rangers had beaten the Ligue 1 club, it wouldn’t have made any difference to the standings in the group, such was Lyon’s lead going into the game.
Scott Wright opened the scoring for the Glasgow club, before Calvin Bassey put the ball into the back of his own net and provided an equaliser for Lyon.
L’Equipe have rated both teams, with the French newspaper giving Rangers 4.8/10 and Lyon 4.9, clearly unimpressed with a number of players.
Bassey was given the least for Rangers, just 3/10, with Wright and Ryan Kent the best performers for the away side at 6/10.
Xherdan Shaqiri, who has had a very mixed time at Lyon since arriving as a free agent from Liverpool in the summer, was the worst performer for the home side, along with 17-year-old Hugo Vogel.
