Tottenham Hotspur appear to be holding back on their effort to sign Rafa Leao from AC Milan, despite him being available on loan.

Loan with obligation
He reports that while the issues surrounding Rafa Leao’s future continues to dominate the headlines. That’s especially the case now that he’s finished his World Cup campaign with Portugal, there is no movement as yet.
While he can now focus fully on his future, and has reportedly been offered to Roma, on loan with an obligation to buy, there has been no movement. Nor have any offers arrived from the Premier League.
That remains Leao’s preferred destination this summer. Barcelona are also in the background but have not gone further than making enquiries at this point. They have already signed Anthony Gordon as their new left-winger this summer after all.
Tottenham interest
Sport Witness have covered Tottenham’s potential interest in the 27-year-old already over the last few weeks. A report last week explained how super-agent Jorge Mendes was trying to get the winger to Tottenham this summer and how a loan with an obligation was possible.
That offer, it seems, was closely tied to Mateus Fernandes’ move to join Spurs this summer. Mendes also represents him and appeared to be using the situation to leverage for his winger as well.
It seems, though, Tottenham are yet to bite. Whether that’s because they’re now hiting the brakes somewhat after their recent spending splurge or that they’re just not that keen on Leao, remains to be seen.
The likelihood is that Tottenham do want to focus on potential sales and balancing the books somewhat at this point. That would be the case even if Leao is being offered on a loan by Mendes and AC Milan, who both seem keen to get a deal over the line.
