Newcastle United defender Fabian Schär has hailed the transformation at the club following the club’s takeover and Eddie Howe’s arrival.
The Magpies were taken over by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund last year and it has been something of a roller coaster ride since then.
Howe arrived as Steve Bruce’s replacement in November last year and after a busy January transfer window managed to lead the side away from the relegation battle.
Another busy summer of incomings led way to a superb start to the season in which Newcastle have lost just one of their 15 games so far, winning eight and drawing six to accumulate 30 points and rise to third in the table.
They’re currently just a point away from Manchester City in second and only seven behind league leaders Arsenal, a far cry from the situation they were in at this same time last year.
“It’s quite amazing the changes the new club owners and our new coach, Eddie Howe, have made,” he told Wiler Nachrichten.
“We play attractive football and are currently third in the Premier League. The cohesion in our team and the enthusiasm in our stadium and in the city are fantastic.
“In England, the season continues immediately without interruption. Next Monday, 26 December, we have our first championship game after the World Cup.
“Of course, we want to confirm our season so far and stay at the top of the table. For me personally, I also hope that the rest of the season will be as positive as the first 14 games.”
