Earlier on Wednesday, reports in the Italian media claimed that Brentford were coming in strong for the signing of Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina.
It was said the Bees placed a bid worth over €40m for the winger, and the Serie A side were set to sit down and analyse it.
Now as TuttoMercatoWeb comes up with an update on the situation, it’s claimed that Fiorentina decided to turn down Brentford’s offer.
It’s recalled that the Bees’ bid had been made just hours ago, and the Italian club took a fast decision about it.
TuttoMercatoWeb says Brentford’s offer was worth over €42m, and that was ‘returned to the sender’.
The report doesn’t seem to know whether the Premier League side would be encouraged enough to place a new bid for the winger.
With the transfer window closing in a few days, this will be a crucial time for Brentford to decide whether to raise their offer or just move on towards other targets.
Gonzallez may be valued by Transfermarkt at only €30m, but at this stage of the window, all clubs are set to make a bigger protection of their stars.
