Just after Barcelona signed Raphinha from Leeds United this summer, it seemed like the Catalan side made a great investment. The Brazilian was able to impress in pre-season and even had a decent start for the club, meeting all the surrounding expectations.

In the past month, however, things haven’t been that great for him at the Camp Nou. The winger couldn’t stay on the pitch for 90 minutes in any of their recent matches, as he’s either brought on from the bench or starts and ends up getting subbed in the second half.

That’s been a reason for the Spanish media to start worrying about the money Barcelona spent on the former Leeds player. Especially now that Raphinha had a disappointing performance in El Clásico against Real Madrid at the weekend, which the Santiago Bernabeu side won 3-1.

After the match, outlet AS featured a story detailing the performances of each Barça player, and when speaking of Raphinha, they make it clear that he’s still to show the consistency he once had at Leeds United.

‘Another of his matches to forget. The problem is that he’s already had a few, which raises more than one question regarding his signing. He did not leave on any occasion from the right wing, and he hardly helped in the pressure. Either he takes a step forward or the Brazilian can start to stick to the bench more frequently.’
