Dutch giants Ajax are not yet pursuing a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva, despite claims to the contrary.
That’s according to journalist Mike Verweij, who says that a move is “out of the question” for now and rumours of it happening are “mainly a game of the agent.”
Silva has spent the second half of this season on loan at PSV Eindhoven after cutting short a loan spell with Anderlecht to make the move to the Netherlands instead.
He proved to be a relative success under Ruud van Nistelrooy, but Wolves’ demands for a transfer, or even another loan, mean PSV will not be keeping him for a second season.
Silva will therefore be returning to Wolves in the summer but does not appear to be a part of Julen Lopetegui’s plans given the Spaniard brought in several forwards in January to bolster that area of the team.
Thus, another move away from Molineux seems likely and recent reports have indicated that Ajax may be in for him as they plan a summer rebuild.
Verweij is having none of that at this moment in time, though, insisting the Wolves man is not a target as far as he is aware.
“I understand that at the moment it is mainly a game of the agent. I can imagine Ajax being interested eventually, though, because he is a talented striker,” he said.
