A move to Saudi Arabia was ‘out of the question’ for Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku this summer, and he’s now found his ‘ideal club’ in Roma anyway.

That’s according to analyst Filip Joos and childhood friend Zinho Gano, who believe things worked out as Lukaku had planned after all.

Lukaku was linked with a move away from Chelsea throughout the summer, with it made clear he was not a part of their plans moving forwards.

Attempts to find him a new club consistently fell by the wayside, though, as Inter pulled out of a deal for him after he spoke to Juventus, who similarly didn’t push forward with a serious effort.

While this was ongoing, Saudi Arabia made a serious offer for him, presenting a big money big that not only satisfied Chelsea but would have seen the striker earning a big pay packet too.

He outright refused to accept the offer, preferring to continue his career in Europe, where he ultimately went on loan to Roma.

That’s a deal which suits him according to Gano, who believes the Belgian striker has the chance to shine again with Jose Mourinho’s side.

“Saudi Arabia was out of the question for Lukaku,” said Filip Joos and co.

“He wants to work on his statistics. It wasn’t the time to go there, not yet. I appreciate that.

“I am happy for Romelu: I think he has found the ideal club. He has already worked with José Mourinho. I hope he can flourish again like he did under Antonio Conté at Inter,” added Gano.
