Following some good displays for Italy during the international break, the mood around Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo has improved in his home country.
Add to that the fact the player publicly declared he wanted a move back to Serie A on Tuesday, and there has been a lot of talk about his future of late.
Fiorentina and Lazio appear to be two teams taking an interest in a transfer once he leaves Aston Villa this summer, and former footballer Stefano Impallomeni suggested a third should be joining the race in a chat with TuttoMercatoWeb Radio.
Asked what he thought about the 24-year-old and his decision to put his desire to go back to his home country in the open, he was full of praise.
He said: “I would see him do well at AC Milan, the way he plays now. He has qualities that few have. He has pace, physicality, and if he gets things right, he still has time to blossom fully. He needs to find a guide, someone who teaches him how to express this desire of his on a regular basis, who will direct him and be a guide.”
Loaned to Aston Villa for the season by Galatasaray, Zaniolo has managed to make 31 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side, picking up three goals, but most of those have come from the bench.
Unai Emery doesn’t appear to have been fully convinced since his arrival, which is why it’s very likely he will be heading back to Turkey this summer before finding himself a new club.
