Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sandro is reportedly on the verge of signing for Sporting.
The Portuguese club and Brazilian player are said to be only settling the last details of his contract so they can finally seal the move.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Sporting have offered Sandro a three-year deal, but the Brazilian player wants four years and that’s the biggest disagreement for now, although the newspaper says it should not be a problem.
There’s no mention if a drop in the player’s wages would complicate the move, since the Portuguese club don’t have the conditions to pay the same as QPR.
It’s an assumption that Sandro would earn less than he has done in England, and have to be happy with that situation for a transfer to be completed… the Portuguese press take that as an issue already sorted out.
Record claim the deal is “very close” to being done and it should be signed in the “next few days”. Sporting manager Jorge Jesus wants to have the player available before June 27, when the club start the works for the pre season.
For a while the Portuguese press have been saying that Sandro should sign for Sporting “in the next few days”.
They’ve claimed it since the end of May, when the player was in Portugal to get married, and at the time Sandro’s agent told us the move wasn’t so close to being done. Sandro was set to go home to Brazil for another wedding (heh, he’s Sandro, he deserves two weddings) and he’s not been back to Portugal since.
The transfer seems likely to happen, but there’s no need for all this rush.
