As the Brazilian media continues to be confident that Queens Park Rangers fullback Niko Hamalainen is soon signing for Botafogo, we get to see an update on this case today.

On Monday evening, the 25-year-old showed on Instagram that he was at Selhurst Park watching the Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

As pointed out by FogãoNet, that has to do with John Textor. The businessman is a shareholder at the London side, and has been pulling off a deal to bring Hamalainen to his newly acquired club, which is Botafogo.

It’s already been reported by the Brazilian media that it was Textor’s team who came up with the idea of bringing the fullback to Rio de Janeiro, and that had the approval from the club’s new manager Luis Castro.

FogãoNet points out that Hamalainen is expected in Rio this week, as he’s set to stay at Botafogo on loan until the end of the season.

The fullback hasn’t been used at Queens Park Rangers, and the short spell is seen as a solution for him to have some minutes and stay in shape in the coming months. His contract with the Loftus Road side runs until 2024.
