Left out of Brighton’s Premier League squad for the first half of the season by Chris Hughton, Ezequiel Schelotto’s future appeared to have been decided before the season even started.
Admitting he would have to find a solution in January if his situation didn’t change, the Italy international is now looking for an exit, and TuttoMercatoWeb believe there are discussions with a Championship side.
According to the Italian website, QPR are the ones interested in the right-back, with contacts between all parties currently ongoing, yet there could also be interest from Italy.
As well as Steve McClaren’s side, SPAL, who could lose their starting right-back/right midfielder, Manuel Lazzari, this window, are said to be remaining ‘vigilant’ to Schelotto’s situation.
Capable of playing further up the pitch as well as on the right hand side of defence, Schelotto could prove a useful player for QPR during the second half of the season should they manage to acquire his services in the coming weeks, providing backup for both Angel Rangel and Pawel Wszolek in one loan deal.
We’ll see if this evolves into something bigger.
