As you all know, Manchester United have a big game coming up, and we’re not talking about their trip to Newcastle at the weekend.

No, the Red Devils face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, a team that will be itching for revenge after what happened the last time the two teams met.

However, they are likely to have to do so without one of their key components in Marquinhos, who, according to L’Equipe, is ‘at risk of missing’ the game through injury.

The French newspaper explain the centre-back picked up a thigh issue on Tuesday while on international duty with Brazil, which is a ‘thorn in the foot’ for Thomas Tuchel, who normally starts his team selections with his defender.

Add that to Juan Bernat’s knee injury, and the German manager is without 50% of his starting defence for a very important game that could see him face his former player, Edinson Cavani.

There’s still a smidgen of hope Marquinhos could be back in time, and more tests when he returns to Paris on Thursday should give more information on the matter, but L’Equipe point out the medical staff at the Ligue 1 club ‘aren’t kidding themselves’.

Tuchel still has a few more days, and Friday’s game against Nîmes, to decide how his defence will look against Manchester United, but the likelihood is, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men take to the pitch on Tuesday evening, they won’t be facing Marquinhos.
