On Monday, we covered an article from Le Parisien suggesting that Blaise Matuidi could be on his way out from Paris Saint-Germain after Unai Emery hinted he could live without him if needs be.
L’Equipe on Tuesday pick up from that very piece of print from their colleagues and go a bit further as they analyse the France international’s options, including a move to the Premier League.
Paris Saint-Germain obviously wouldn’t be against keeping such a good player, but were he to ask to leave, they wouldn’t stand in his way out of respect for everything he has done for them.
If he had a choice, L’Equipe reckon Matuidi would prefer a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United enquiring about his services towards the end of May, before moving onto a bigger target in Paul Pogba.
Rumours of a Chelsea interest might be popping up here and there, but the French newspaper reckon it’s Juventus who just might pip everyone to his signature were they to lose Pogba to United.
Capable of affording his high wages, the Turin club would certainly have all the money in the world to pay Paris Saint-Germain a reasonable fee, and the player isn’t indifferent to their interest.
That being said, L’Equipe do seem to imply United could return to their plan B if their plan A were to fail, meaning Matuidi could very well be Pogba’s backup on Mourinho’s transfer wishlist.
Guess we’ll all find out soon enough, but we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.
