A week ago, we covered claims from Italy that Leeds United have reached an agreement with Udinese to sign Jaka Bijol for €22m. There’s growing disappointment at the Serie A side with the centre-back’s impending move to Elland Road, although an acceptance that he deserves such a move.
Last Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated 26-year-old is one of the leaders at Udinese and he’ll be missed at the club. They are also predicted he’ll make an immediate and positive impact at Leeds United.
TuttoMercatoWeb report that at weekend, the Slovenia international signed a contract until 2030 with the Whites. They further add only the announcement is missing to make this move official.
Bijol left CSKA Moscow for Udinese in 2022 and his sale to Leeds will see the latter collect €22m including bonuses. His former club have a 10% a sell-on clause.
Former Udinese centre-back Alessandro Calori says the defender will certainly be missed at the Italian club.
“The Slovenian has proven to be a leader in these last three seasons, and with his departure a point of reference for everyone will be missing,” he said.
Tutto Udinese also state Daniel Farke’s side have signed Bijol and only the official announcement is missing.
