Serie A side Spezia seem to have no hard feelings about Jakub Kiwior leaving them for Arsenal.
That’s confirmed in an interview that club director Stefano Melissano gave to DAZN before their match against Roma at the weekend.
Asked about Kiwior’s transfer to Arsenal, he claimed they’re glad he’s moving to such a big club, and focused on their need to find a replacement for his position.
“It’s a pride for everyone, from the club to the player. We are proud and happy that Jakub has this experience in one of the top ten clubs in the world,” Melissano told Dazn (via Calcio Mercato).
“We’ve lost an excellent player and youngster, but we are still Spezia, we’ll continue to have our identity. We’re happy, our transfer market was the result of work planned in the previous months. Now we have to fix something in exit, to improve you always have to be careful.”
According to the latest updates from the Italian media, Kiwior is joining Arsenal in a deal worth €25m plus €5m in bonuses. The €30m figure is what Spezia had always been demanding to let the defender go.
It was also revealed by the same outlet that the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig and Brentford had all made offers for the player, but all of them were rejected by the Serie A side, as they did not meet the club’s demands.
Kiwior’s move to Arsenal is now said to be imminent, with him soon announced by Mikel Arteta’s side.
