On September 20th, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed Ivan Perišić will have to undergo a surgery after suffering a knee injury in training.
According to Croatia’s Gol.hr, the 34-year-old went under the knife in Innsbruck, Austria, and the operation ‘went well’.
The outlet have made it clear they have found out this information from ‘reliable sources’ and add that the Tottenham player will undergo rehabilitation for six months.
It’s explained that the Croatia international will spend a few more days in the ‘clinic’, likely in Austria, and then travel to London.
Gol.hr have also relayed quotes from Croatia doctor Saša Janković, who claims the former Inter Milan man can start riding a bicycle in a month. At the same time, he has also issued a warning to the player to not rush his recovery.
“50% is operation, 50% is rehabilitation process. He can rely on his leg in that first phase. In three to four weeks, he can ride a bike, in three months he can run. The problem is that contact with another player is not possible for a long time,” the national team doctor said.
The player’s setback hasn’t stopped Hajduk Split from considering a move to sign him. On Tuesday, Sportske Novosti stated the Croatian club have reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for Perišić’s transfer in January.
Prior to suffering an injury, Perišić made six appearances for Spurs this season, managing two assists in the process.
