For several years Hakan Calhanoglu has popped up towards the end of transfer windows, with claims he’s about to sign for a Premier League club. The angling for a move has at times been painfully obvious, and hasn’t actually resulted in anything happening.

Given the player’s own record, it was surprising when he dished out criticism to Heung-min Son, following the player’s own Bayer Leverkusen exit, and move to Tottenham. perhaps it was sourced from frustration.

Calhanoglu himself hasn’t played since February, banned by FIFA for accepting a payment from a Turkish club and then not moving there. Now Bild are building up a potential transfer picture, with Everton and Tottenham dragged in.

To be clear, it’s unclear in what kind of context Bild use Everton and Tottenham, whether they feel there’s genuine interest or whether the two clubs have been plucked from thin air as examples of Premier League teams who could afford the move.

Bild say Bayer Leverkusen want €25m… ‘So Calhanoglu is probably something for Tottenham or Everton…’

Take that as you will.
