Struggling to get a deal over the line for Hans Vanaken as Club Brugge refuse to let their star go, West Ham United are looking around for an alternative.

In need of a new midfielder, having sorted out their backline with the arrival of Thilo Kehrer, the Hammers have now set their sights of Seko Fofana.

The RC Lens star was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last season, which caught the eye of a lot of scouts, but unlike Cheick Doucouré, who went to Crystal Palace, the 27-year-old has yet to move.

He isn’t necessarily looking for a transfer either, but that hasn’t stopped West Ham from taking an interest, as they have made Fofana a ‘favoured option’ at London Stadium, according to But! Football Club.

While the Hammers are ‘studying various deals’, the Ivory Coast international’s name ‘is in a good position’ in their books, with a source close to the London club saying: “The price won’t be an issue. At a push, Lens are asking for around the same price as Lille did for Onana. Now, there is a need to potentially find an agreement with the player, but also watch out for the competition.”

As for who those clubs might be, it’s said that Milan are keeping an eye on the Lens star, while Arsenal could also make a move, but that would entirely depend on what happens with Albert Sambi Lokonga.
