Nearly one year ago, we’ve seen strong claims from Portugal saying Wolverhampton Wanderers were attempting the signing of Jesus Corona from Porto.

It’s even been said that the Molineux side made an offer of between €22m and €24m for the midfielder, but that was turned down by the Dragons, who demanded the player’s €30m release clause to be triggered.

Well, it now seems there are good news for Wolves in case they’re still interested in the transfer.

Newspaper Correio da Manhã today features a story saying Corona has told Porto he wants to leave and asked his agent to go look for a new club.

Porto are said to be cool with the situation, mostly because there’s only one year left in his contract, which means they have enough time to sell him before losing him for free.

Now in case those claims about the bid were true, there’s an encouraging update on the situation.

That’s because according to the report, Corona’s release clause is going from €30m to €20m at the end of June, meaning that’s a chance for the Premier League side to get him for even less than their rejected bid from last year.

Correio da Manhã points out that Wolves, Chelsea, Everton, Sevilla and Fiorentina have all shown interest in the Mexican player.
