Earlier on Tuesday, we covered multiple claims from Spain that explained Aston Villa have positioned themselves to sign Sevilla’s Marcos Acuña in the last few hours. It was also stated the La Liga side demanded €15m to part ways with the 31-year-old.
AS even stated that the operation remains complicated for the Villans since they aren’t willing to meet Sevilla’s demands and have to first get rid of Lucas Digne before making an approach for Acuña.
The Europa League winners will take on Manchester City in the UEFA Super Cup tomorrow. Ahead of the clash, Sevilla president José Castro spoke to reporters and his comments are relayed by ElDesmarque.
Castro was asked about claims of Aston Villa’s approach for the Argentina international. He didn’t confirm or deny the Premier League side’s interest but opened the door to selling the left-back.
“He has a price. I am not going to broadcast any negotiation,” he said.
“If an offer arrives, we will study it. If it arrives, if we understand that’s good and that it corresponds to the value, in addition to helping us grow, we will do it; if it does not meet those requirements, he will stay at Sevilla, nothing happens.”
Castro, unsurprisingly, didn’t mention the South American’s valuation. Acuña joined the La Liga side from Sporting in 2020, when Monchi was the sporting director. The Spaniard is currently at Aston Villa and is reportedly working to bring him to Villa Park.
