Crystal Palace and Everton are in the picture to sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal this summer after his unsuccessful spell at Tottenham came to an end.
That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who say the Premier League duo are keen and Danjuma’s ‘price has evaporated’ to facilitate a move.
They report that the Dutchman is ‘on the exit ramp’ at Villarreal and one of the ‘hot potatoes’ they’d like to pass on to someone else if they can.
They’re not counting on him for next season and would prefer to get rid on a permanent basis, preferably for a fee similar to the one they paid for him two seasons ago.
Whether that is possible is up for debate, but the winger has a ‘great reputation’ in the Premier League, despite his unsuccessful loan spell at Tottenham last season.
He’s now returned to Villarreal, but they don’t want him and are looking to move him on if they can, with Crystal Palace ‘one of the main interested parties’.
They, alongside Everton, ‘have knocked on Danjuma’s door’ although both need to secure departures before they can move for him.
A deal is there to be done, though, as Villarreal don’t want him, and the player has also made it clear he does not want to stay with the Spanish side either.
Thus, both parties are ‘destined to reach an agreement’, although Villarreal may end up having to sanction another loan deal, which they would prefer not to do, as a permanent exit will be hard to find.
Crystal Palace are keen as they look for a replacement for Wilfried Zaha while the Toffees simply need offensive reinforcements after struggling in that area last season.
Danjuma is very much in the window and keen to return to England, despite his failure at Tottenham, but whether either side can get a deal done, remains to be seen.
