With the 2-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur now have two Premier League victories in a row, and finally show some improvement from their recent form.
Coincidentally, Spurs manager Antonio Conte had been sitting out of those matches as he recovers from his surgery, letting his assistant Cristian Stellini in charge during games.
Now as Tottenham star Richarlison spoke to the Brazilian media after the London Derby, he talked about how important that victory was, and even joked about the good results without Conte on the bench, despite acknowledging it’s still the boss who’s in control of everything.
“I think Cristian in charge of the team worked out, now the pressure is on Conte’s side there. Let’s wait for him to come back (laughs),” Richarlison told ESPN Brasil.
“But all the work… Professor Conte, from there, tells Cristian to give us the work. We will continue with this will, we are at a very good pace, two Premier League wins in a row. So I think it’s important to keep it that way.”
Tottenham now switch their attention to the FA Cup, where they face Sheffield United on Wednesday. Spurs then visit Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next weekend, and then have an even tougher challenge ahead, as that will be time to play the second leg of the Champions League’s round-of-16 against Milan, following the 1-0 loss at the San Siro.
Despite the team finding better results, Richarlison continues with his drought, with only two goals in 22 appearances this season.
