Guido Rodríguez was linked with a move away from West Ham United in January, but no deal took shape.

The Hammers took Rodríguez on a free transfer last summer and he played over 1,000 minutes from 20 matches. He lost prominence during Julen Lopetegui’s final weeks at the club.

Last month, West Ham appointed Graham Potter as their new manager and the midfielder started in his first two league games. He hasn’t made an appearance for a month, but that hasn’t put off River Plate.

According to River Noticias, the Argentina club are keen on signing the 30-year-old in the summer window.

Rodríguez graduated from River Plate’s academy and spent two years between 2014 and 2016 with their first team under Marcello Gallardo’s orders. The manager returned to the club last year and wants to reunite with the West Ham player.

The report explains River Plate president Jorge Pablo Brito will ‘do everything possible’ to bring the Argentina international back to the club. Brito’s desire is to have the midfielder for the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

River Noticias make no mention of what Rodríguez or West Ham think about a potential transfer in the summer window.
