Real Sociedad are keen on signing Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez, according to AS.
Pep Guardiola hasn’t favoured the Spaniard even though he was the only recognised left-back in the recently concluded season.
The La Liga side are in the market for a new left-back, and their focus is on the 23-year-old.
La Real laid the groundwork when Manchester City director Txiki Beguiristain recently made a trip to Spain. They have decided to take further steps to try to close the deal.
On Sunday, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and sporting director Roberto Olabe travelled to England, and ‘everything indicates’ that they are heading for Manchester, to negotiate a deal with the Premier League winners for the fullback.
AS say Aperribay usually travels when the deal is advanced, and the president making the trip indicates that progress has been made. He wants to give a boost so that the deal can be closed ‘as soon as possible’.
Real Sociedad have been in contact with Manchester City, to find out the conditions to sign Gómez, after a failed attempt last summer. They also have good ties with his entourage.
Taking several factors into account, AS indicates that there’s a good chance for Gómez to join Real Sociedad in the next window.
