Four days ago, Radio Kiss Kiss journalist Valter De Maggio explained that there’s a “strong interest” from Liverpool in Victor Osimhen.
Earlier today, De Maggio further stated the striker has reached an agreement with the Reds and that’s one of the reasons why Osimhen is hesitating to sign an extension.
Calciomercato provides the latest update on the Liverpool target’s future, with his current deal expiring in 2025.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has suggested the 27-year-old may not renew the deal after “his mood changed”.
It’s claimed the Serie A winners had meetings with the Nigeria international’s camp in July and August, and had reached an agreement for a deal worth €10m per year. This was before the player changed his stance.
Taking De Laurentiis’ latest comments, the report suggests the gap between Napoli and the player seems too big.
Calciomercato say the Napoli president can no longer request the €200m fee demand for the Nigerian in the last window but is ‘convinced he can still make cash’. They add that De Laurentiis remains hopeful of earning €100m from his sale.
Liverpool reportedly have an agreement in place with Osimhen and it needs to be seen if they are willing to spend big on him in the upcoming windows.
Another report from the same outlet states Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda met Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso and their chief scout in the last few hours and the parties are still at a standstill over a renewal.
With De Maggio insisting that Liverpool are keen on the player, the latest developments should please them in their efforts to sign him.
