Hardly used regularly by previous managers at Tottenham, Pape Matar Sarr is enjoying a good start to the season under Ange Postecoglou.
His goal at the weekend against Manchester United was certainly the icing on the cake for the young midfielder, who now appears to firmly be in Spurs’ plans.
That has been greeted with huge delight over in his home country of Senegal, where many are praising the Tottenham player and thrilled to see him succeed, like journalist Moussa Sarr, relayed by Sene News.
Recalling that he was once criticised for ‘coddling’ Pape Matar Sarr during the World Cup, he explains that he tends to try and encourage players that are going through tough times rather than doubling down on them.
Still, there needed to be a kick up the backside, and he did that with some criticism, especially for a player as talented as the Tottenham one.
The reason for that is then explained: “Matar Sarr is our present and our future. I will always try and push him to dig deep. I’m happy to see him a starter at Tottenham. I want him to succeed because the Premier League is the crème de la crème. If he succeeds there, he’ll give us satisfaction in the national team and everyone will be a winner.”
