French outlet L’Equipe today features a story saying the ‘Pozzo family’ have made a bid for Rennes fullback Brandon Soppy.
Without naming the club who would land the 19-year-old in case the bid was accepted, the report only points out that the agreement was proposed by the owners of Watford and Udinese.
It’s said the offer was made this Firday, and although the amount isn’t revealed, Rennes seem to have turned it down, as they demand €5m for the move and deemed the bid ‘insufficient’.
L’Equipe says this first offer ‘could be the starting point’ for further negotiations for this transfer, so we should soon get more news revealing if it’s the Hornets who are after the teenager.
Now regardless if it’s Watford or Udinese who are working to sign Soppy, it’s pointed out that they’d have the competition from a couple of French sides, as Lille and Reims have already expressed their interest in the player.
The defender’s contract with Rennes expires next summer, and that’s the reason why the club are in a fragile position to negotiate his move, which could very well help the Pozzo family in bolstering either Watford or Udinese.
