Dani Ceballos is ‘listening’ to the offers coming from the Premier League as Aston Villa eye him up on a free transfer this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Villa may need to work hard to convince the midfielder to swap the Bernabeu for ‘mid-table’.
Ceballos is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer when his current contract with Real Madrid comes to an end.
Several sides in Europe are thought to be chasing his signature, including Aston Villa, with a report in February indicating that they have already made contact about a potential deal.
Estadio pick up on that and say that Ceballos is listening to the ‘siren songs’ from the Premier League, with Aston Villa one of those who have him on their ‘radar’ as he is ‘very much to the liking’ of manager Unai Emery.
A return to England, following his loan spell at Arsenal, would be the ‘most profitable option’ for Ceballos financially as no other teams could beat the money on offer.
However, it would mean him going from ‘fighting for everything’ at Real Madrid to playing for a mid-table team, something that is ‘hard to imagine’ at this moment in time.
A decision will have to be made at some point in the coming months, although Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has sent a warning to Ceballos and others who are out of contract this summer.
“Everyone has to evaluate the role they have,” he said.
“When you finish a contract, you have to make this kind of assessment. How much prominence you have in this squad is a decision that a player has to make.
“So, I think if he wants to renew it means that he likes the role he has and it motivates them. In the end it is an agreement between the club and the player.”
