Struggling to really get going this season in the Premier League, even if they did beat AFC Bournemouth 9-0, Liverpool will be wanting to rectify this by starting well in the Champions League.
Their first test in the European competition will be against Napoli, who, unlike their opponents, have kicked off in style, currently topping Serie A on goal difference.
One of the key players in their squad is Victor Osimhen, who has scored two goals and assisted another in five league games so far this season, and that will be a threat Jürgen Klopp will be preparing for.
However, despite finishing the 90 minutes against Lazio in their 2-1 win at the weekend, the Napoli forward is ‘at risk’ of missing the Liverpool clash, according to Calciomercato.
He isn’t the only one either, as Hirving Lozano ‘underwent further radiological checks and neurosurgical consultations’, which gave ‘negative results’, and the Mexican ‘did custom work’ in training on Monday after coming off injured just before half time.
That was also the case for Osimhen, who similarly trained away from the group after ‘feeling some pain’ following the Lazio game.
Should they be without the Nigeria international on Wednesday, that could be a big blow for them, which, in turn, could be a blessing for Liverpool, who wouldn’t have to deal with the forward’s threat, and would instead have to likely face Giovanni Simeone.
