The Italian press has never backed away from linking Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali with a move to Juventus.
Last month, Calciomercato claimed the Old Lady tried to sign the midfielder in the summer. Again! His high price made sure a move didn’t go through.
The Italian media are now continuing to stir the pot. Tonali was called up to the Italian national team by Rino Gattuso for the current break. He flew to Italy this week, before joining the Azzurri setup ahead of the games against Estonia and Israel.
Goal Italia note that the 25-year-old was spotted in Milan with his agent Giuseppe Riso.
The two had a meeting in which the midfielder’s future at Newcastle United was apparently discussed.
The outlet claim Juventus are still interested in Tonali. He is currently at the top of the Bianconeri shortlist for midfielders. It’s believed former Juve sporting director Cristiano Guintoli was keen on bringing the Italian to Turin in the summer. His departure impacted a potential transfer, but even if he stayed the cost issue would have remained.
Tonali meeting his agent when he returns to Italy appears like an entirely natural thing to do. The Italian media, however, won’t let go of the Newcastle United player potentially returning.
