Last week, we covered reports from the Belgian media which revealed Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in KAA Gent star Gift Orban.
It was claimed that Spurs contacted the player’s entourage and have the striker as one of the options to replace Harry Kane this summer.
Now it’s time for journalist Sacha Tavolieri to come up on Twitter and say Tottenham are indeed in contact for the signing.
It’s claimed that Spurs are willing to spend as much as €30m, with bonuses included, to get the transfer done.
The signing has reportedly been approved by manager Ange Postecoglou, but the club will only have the ‘green light’ to send their offer depending on the outcome of Kane’s saga.
Tavolieri points out that by spending €30m now, Tottenham will be ‘anticipating the market’, as they believe Orban could be worth twice as much if he plays in an intermediate league in the coming season.
Genk only paid €3.3m to sign the striker in January. Now after 22 goals and two assists in 24 appearances for the club, he already sees his value on Transfermarkt standing at €20m.
