Earlier today, we covered the fresh quotes from Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku about his situation.

The striker, who’s on loan at AS Roma, refused to comment on whether he’d like to stay with the Giallorossi because he doesn’t want any ‘controversy’ in the English media.

Well, that won’t stop media outlets from speaking about his situation, and Calciomercato now shares a story about the chances of the loan from Chelsea turning into a permanent move.

Following his quotes, the website comes up to say Lukaku ‘feels great in Rome’, and his family have been pushing for him to stay in Italy.

According to the story, there’s a clause for Roma to buy him from Chelsea for £37m, but ‘it’s possible to negotiate’ with the Blues to bring that down to £30m.

That is just the first issue. Then there’s the fact that the Blues pay Lukaku €12m per season, with him currently accepting a reduction to €7.5m, meaning a new deal would need to be negotiated with the Giallorossi.

Calciomercato highlights the financial ‘limitations’ that Roma have, as that could harm an operation that is expected to cost between €50m and €60m in total, but ‘nothing is impossible’, they say, with qualification for next year’s Champions League likely the most important factor in potentially getting this deal over the line.
