Nottingham Forest striker Lorenzo Lucca does not require surgery on an ankle injury after undergoing assessments in Rome today.
That’s according to Area Napoli, who cover the 25-year-old’s flying visit for a medical consultation in Italy today.
Sport Witness covered various reports earlier on Friday explaining that Lucca has suffered an ankle injury, hence his recent absences from Nottingham Forest’s squads.
That first report was followed by another explaining that he had flown out to Italy for a medical consultation. That was due to take place somewhere in Rome today.
No surgery required
Now Area Napoli provide the details. The Italian website report that Lucca underwent examinations at the famed Villa Stuart facility in Rome today.
He met with specialists at the Rome clinic, which Napoli and others use for their medical checks on new signings.
Those examinations have now been concluded. According to their information, the tests lasted for two hours before Lucca left the Roman facility. And it was good news too.
The initial indications are that Lucca will not require surgery on the problem. In fact, the injury is not a major concern, and he should recover from the problem ‘as quickly as possible’.
Napoli are certainly hopeful of that as they want Nottingham Forest to buy him permanently for €35m.
Nottingham Forest option to buy
The striker has barely made an impact at Nottingham Forest since his arrival in the January transfer window.
He’s managed five appearances to date, but just 197 minutes in total. Two of those have been starts, and he’s got one goal to his name. That came in his debut against Leeds United at the beginning of February.
Up to now, Vítor Pereira does not seem all that keen on him. That’s led to reports that Nottingham Forest aren’t keen on activating their option to buy him. An ankle injury would certainly push them that way as well.
But with the problem not requiring surgery, Lucca now has a chance to make his mark between now and the end of the season.
