Sporting manager Ruben Amorim may be considered one of the top contenders to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur, but there isn’t much worry in Portugal about his departure.
As newspaper Record today features a piece about the coach’s involvement with the Lions’ academy, they take a couple of paragraphs to talk about the rumours about a move to Spurs.
The outlet claims that every time a manager is sacked in the Premier League, Amorim is said to be an option for the job, and it’s been no different with Tottenham.
They say this ‘London call’ is finding a ‘silence mode’ from the coach, because he’s not thinking of leaving Sporting right now.
It’s pointed out that the manager signed a new contract in November, and is now protected by a deal which runs until 2026, with a €20m release clause for clubs outside of Portugal.
Despite the rumours about this Tottenham job, the Portuguese media have never said Spurs actually contacted Amorim, and that may be the reason why the manager doesn’t seem to be affected by these stories.
