Nottingham Forest’s chase for the Portuguese attacker Daniel Podence has now made it to the Lisbon newspapers.
The interest was first reported by website Zerozero, and now, Portuguese newspaper A Bola is the one reporting the player may be joining the Championship side this summer.
According to the newspaper, Nottingham Forest have already made a ‘formal offer’ to the 22-year-old.
Although they don’t say what Podence’s response will be, they make it clear the player may be joining Tobias Figueiredo, who also signed for Nottingham Forest having been at Sporting.
Daniel Podence was one of the first Sporting players who rescinded their contracts with the club after the attacks at the Alcochete training centre.
By doing that, the player is now available to sign as a free agent, regardless of the €60m release clause he had when tied to the Lions.
Despite former president Bruno de Carvalho leaving Sporting, there’s no suggestion this will impact Podence’s decision.
The player made 20 appearances for the Lisbon side last season, contributing eight assists. His agent, needless to say, is Jorge Mendes.
