Some rumours turn big and we just can’t see where it came from.
Many English clubs have been watching Porto games lately, including the big boys like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
And Porto’s biggest start by this stage of the season is the striker André Silva, who has already scored 10 goals and showed himself to have great potential.
So yesterday, many Portuguese outlets had articles saying that Pep Guardiola was interested in signing André Silva to replace Kun Aguero. They all gave credit to the Manchester Evening News, who reportedly started the rumour, but that just seems to have been a convenient excuse.
Things are getting bigger in Portugal. And today, A Bola has an article saying that the interest was “made public”, without saying where it came from.
You could be forgiven for assuming Pep Guardiola has held a press conference and said that André Silva is a real target, but no, it didn’t happen. It’s just more speculation.
A Bola also claims that the player’s €60m release clause shouldn’t be a problem, since “they don’t lack money in the Premier League”.
#WelcomeAndré then.
