Portuguese newspaper Record go big on Diogo Gonçalves to Leeds United in their Saturday edition.

Detailing a couple of English media interviews Leeds owned Andrea Radrizzani has recently given, Record believe the club are looking to emulate Championship rivals Wolves and recruit from Portugal in the summer transfer window.

Gonçalves is presented as a ‘priority’ for Leeds United, and it’s explained Wolves were keen on signing him from Benfica during the last summer window, but failed to get a transfer over the line.

As the season has gone on it’s seemed apparent that Gonçalves could probably do with a loan, and it’d be no surprise if Benfica start to look around for options if he’s not more involved before the end of the current campaign.

Record believe Leeds United want to use Gonçalves’ lack of minutes as a reason to convince agent Jorge Mendes and Benfica on a summer loan transfer.

It’s presented as Record’s own information, but there has been suggestions in England that Gonçalves is the kind of player Leeds ‘could’ or ‘should’ go for.

There’s no suggestion from the Portuguese newspaper that Nuno Espirito Santo and Wolves are ready to fight for the young winger.
