Portuguese newspapers aren’t very confident that Marco Silva will be joining FC Porto.

After a few days of excitement, the local feeling is that the manager should really be staying in the Premier League.

O Jogo claim there are three English clubs wanting Silva, all of them with better financial resources than Porto.

Besides the preference for the Premier League, Silva also wants a club with a good squad who have the resources to make big signings in the next transfer window.

That’s probably why they put Crystal Palace as the favourites, since the London side would, for the purposes of O Jogo’s report, have €100m to spend this summer.

Silva was in London to sort things out with Hull City yesterday, and according to the newspaper, he used the time to listen to the offers he has.

Newspaper Correio da Manhã also claims there are three clubs wanting him in England, and they name all of them. It’s Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Watford.

They say that Silva’s agent Carlos Gonçalves has big influence over the situation, and he also thinks the manager should stay in the Premier League. Porto’s optimism was mostly because after sacking Nuno Espírito Santo, president Pinto da Costa invited Marco Silva to his house in Santo Tisto.

The problem is the agent wasn’t present, and he’s in charge of the entire situation.  Porto are said to be already working on the other alternatives. O Jogo claims that Silva should be signing a new contract until Sunday.

Given that Southampton still have Claude Puel in place, and Watford are likely to go for a manager with less ambitious transfer plans, it’s easy to see why O Jogo and others are pushing Crystal Palace forward.
