It’s now time for the Portuguese press to report Arsenal and Liverpool’s interest in the Belenenses goalkeeper Ricardo van der Laan.

The chase from the Premier League giants had first been claimed by the English press, where Football Insider broke the news.

Now Portuguese outlet O Jogo claims to have confirmed the story in an article on their website, saying the Gunners and the Reds are indeed following the teenager.

Since there’s nothing in today’s newspaper, this looks like some fresh information, and more details could be coming up tomorrow.

Ricardo van der Laan is still 17 years old and hasn’t even made his professional debut yet. As his name suggests, he has both Portuguese and Dutch nationality.

The goalkeeper used to play for Benfica, having later moved to Real Massaná, and joined Belenenses last summer. He’s been part of the club’s U-23 squad this season, where he made four appearances and conceded five goals.

There’s only one more year of contract left for him at the Portuguese side, and that should make things easier for Arsenal or Liverpool to sign him this summer.
