Tottenham Hotspur player Yves Bissouma was a victim of a violent robbery at the weekend, when he was attacked alongside his girlfriend.
The aim of the robbery is thought to have been specifically to take the Spurs player’s watch, although Nice Matin report three diamond rings were also taken.
That was watch is a Richard Mille, which the French newspaper says is worth around €300k.
According to what they’ve found out, Bissouma and his girlfriend pulled up in a luxury car outside Barrière Majestic Cannes hotel at around 4am on Sunday morning.
Nice Matin state: ‘While taking a photo, the couple sees two individuals emerge dressed in dark, their faces hidden by a hood or a balaclava. Yves Bissouma tries to enter the hotel. According to him, the door remains locked and no security guard is there to come to the rescue. The 27-year-old footballer was sprayed with tear gas.’
Whilst neither were physically hurt, the Tottenham player and his partner were left ‘in shock’, and have since returned to London. National police are ‘looking for the attackers’, with the incident declared a ‘violent theft’.
Nice Matin explains that such robberies have become an increasing trend in the area, and a problem for police.
Bissouma’s lawyer insisted the Tottenham player has nothing to add at this stage, and the hotel didn’t wish to make a comment either.
